I was sitting in my living room this morning journaling and seen them! The dust bunnies! It's amazing what shows up when that beautiful sunshine streams in at just the right angle! They are everywhere. They are on my coffee tables, my bookshelf and on the desk. Oh my! Did my Mother-in-law notice when she was here? Of course she did! She cleaned my stove for me. She must have noticed all the other imperfections in my house. The crumbs in the corner of my floor, the finger prints on the wall and the toothpaste smeared on the vanity in the bathroom. How embarrassing! Is it really?
When I look at my life, and what I choose to do with my time, I can honestly say that I love the dust bunnies and all their friends. They are there because I am working hard at building my business and creating a life that involves me doing work I am passionate about. They are there because when I have time at the end of the day, I chose to have tea with Ernie, work-out, go for walks, sit longer at the supper table chatting with the kids, tend to my house plants and very soon to my yard. The dust bunnies are there because I know that appearing perfect on the outside doesn't mean things are perfect on the inside.
I also know that I can't let them overtake my life. At some point, I will have to take things off the shelf and wipe away the dust bunnies, clean off the fingerprints and sweep and mop the floor. It's important to look at things every now and then and make it shine. As a leader of my business, I shine up my workshops, my coaching skills, my marketing material, my website, my Facebook page and my goals and visions. I know that I need to be fresh and current and not sit back and let things get dusty. I know that to impact others I need to connect with them in a meaningful way and to do that, I need to not get dusty
And so, I will dust, just not today. Today I am going to play in the sunshine! Maybe tomorrow I will dust...or the next day!
I lead a full life full of love, adventure and growth. Check out my latest thoughts here.
